Most domain name registrars like Namecheap and GoDaddy usually offer hosting along with the domain name sale. But sometimes the services of other hosting providers may appeal to you more.
Transfer Domain Name From Godaddy To Namecheap
In this article, you will learn how to transfer a domain name from Namecheap to another hosting service. I will use HostPapa and GoDaddy as examples here, but the process is the same for other hosting services.

I have used several hosting providers in the past and among them, I prefer HostPapa. HostPapa is a lesser known hosting provider, but it offers great hosting services.
While there are cheaper hosting services, HostPapa isn’t cheap. HostPapa comes with a free SSL certificate and a free domain name for one year. It also has excellent service performance and is rated five stars on Trustpilot. Compared to other services I’ve used, such as HostGator and GoDaddy, HostPapa comes out on top.
HostGator is the worst, with low server performance and a one-star rating on Trustpilot. GoDaddy is fine but lacks some perks like a free SSL certificate. It also has a two-star rating on Trustpilot.

Best Domain Name Registrars (2022) In India
So, if you want another domain’s hosting, you can transfer your domain from the registrar you purchased to another hosting provider like HostPapa or GoDaddy.
Note that we do not transfer the domain name between registrants, we refer it to another hosting service. To transfer a Namecheap domain to another hosting provider, there are three main steps to follow.
The first thing we will do is get the nameservers of the hosting provider we want to point to our Namecheap domain. This process is different for all hosting providers. If you use hosting services like HostPapa and Bluehost, all you have to do is search for name servers on the Internet.
They are generally the same for all types of hosting. Here I use HostPapa. You can see the nameservers in the screenshot below.

But for other hosting services like GoDaddy and SiteGround, the nameservers may vary depending on your hosting type. To access nameservers, first log in to your hosting provider’s cPanel.
As you can see above, the addon domain “storemonkeywp.com” has been created. If you open the root of the addon domain file, you will see that the file is currently empty. We will return to this in the third step.
After we have created the addon domain, the next step is to get the nameservers for the addon domain we just created. To do this, make sure you’re signed in and select
This will take you to the domain name page. You will see all your domains here, including the addon domain you just added. If you can’t find your icon, change the view by clicking on the far right of the icons next to the search bar.
Godaddy Vs. Namecheap: Which Is The Best?
Changing the Namecheap nameservers is an easier process than the previous steps. First, make sure you’re signed in to your Namecheap account. Next, place your mouse over your username and click on it
From the side menu. You will be shown a list of all your domains. Find the domain you want to transfer and click on it
This is where we will fill in the nameservers we got from the previous step. Once you’ve filled in both nameservers, click the green checkmark in the corner to save it. Here I used the HostPapa nameservers we first got from GoDaddy.
Nameserver changes are not immediately visible. It can take up to 48 hours for changes to appear but usually happens in less than an hour.
Easy Steps To Transfer Domain From Godaddy To Namecheap
To verify that the nameservers have changed, enter the website’s URL into your browser. Note that if your site has no content, you won’t see anything. Make sure to add some HTML or install WordPress on your new domain. You can check out my post on how to install WordPress on cPanel.
To add the HTML code to your website, go to the cPanel of your chosen hosting service and click
Folder from the left panel. Now click on the folder with your domain name in the right panel.
This will create an HTML file in your root directory. To edit the file, right click on the file and click
