GoDaddy, Namecheap, Name.com, Domain.com, and others are popular domain registrars that offer different TLDs at different prices. They compete based on the TLD selection they offer, the features associated with their domain names, customer support, ease of use, etc.

I have been a Namecheap user for several years when I bought and hosted one of my domains. I’ve changed hosting 3 times in the last 6 years, but I’ve kept my domain with Namecheap. Namecheap also offers free Whois protection on all domains it owns. This allows you to hide your information from public records and reveal some random information. GoDaddy will charge you for Whois maintenance.
When you transfer your domain to Namecheap, you can keep your domain from your current registrar. For example, if you have 3 months left on your GoDaddy, you get 1 year + 3 months = 15 months validity with Namecheap.

In short, I chose Namecheap as my preferred domain registrar for its price, ease of use, excellent customer support, free Whois privacy, and the convenience of hosting all your domains at the same place.
This tutorial was written with GoDaddy and Namecheap in mind, but it should work with other domain registrars.
Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your domain list. Look for a link or button that says something like “Manage”, “Regional Settings”. This means you can change settings that apply to a specific region.
Find the “Region Lock” option and turn it off. This must be set to Off to bypass the domain. Depending on your domain registrar, it may take some time to update. You may need to confirm this action via the link sent via email.
Godaddy Domain Transfer: How To Transfer Domain To Another Godaddy Account/registrar?
If you are using a private Whois service with your current registrar, you will need to download your domain again.
This page will ask you to confirm the operation. Click Continue and Transfer to get a verification code. This code can be displayed on your screen or emailed to you. Copy this code anywhere you need it in the next section.
Once you’ve turned off the region lock and received a verification code, you’re ready to switch.
, enter your domain name and click Transfer. Namecheap performs checks to ensure your domain is transferable. When you see the message “Machine”, you are ready to continue.

.Next, enter the verification code you received from GoDaddy and click Verify Verification Code. A check mark will appear when the code is verified.
Click the Add to Cart button, then Check Cart. Look at the screen below. You will see the domain transfer order for your order with the domain name, its duration, your free WhoisGuard subscription and the total amount to be paid.
Note that you can only purchase domains for one year at this time. Once the domain transfer is complete, you can extend the domain validity period.

Click Confirm Order and complete the payment process on the next page. Once your order is successfully completed, your domain will be added to your Namecheap dashboard. Below the domain name is the message “Waiting for delivery from previous registrar”.
After completing the process with your old and new domain registrars, wait for an email from your old registrar. GoDaddy sent me the following email less than 5 minutes after I requested the transfer. You should also search for similar emails.
This email confirms that your transfer request is being processed as intended. Within 7 days, Namecheap will remove the domain registration from your old registry. But don’t wait until then. Some registrars expedite this process by manually accepting this transfer request.

How To Add Godaddy Domain To Namecheap Hosting
Once you do this, GoDaddy will immediately start transferring your domain to Namecheap. You will receive an email confirming this.
You have completed all steps to transfer your domain to Namecheap. Next, wait for them to complete the task. It may take a few minutes, or even days, for Namecheap to receive your domain name.
During this transition process, your website will not crash and will continue to work. Contact Namecheap support for assistance during processing.
If you decide to switch domain registrars for any reason, we recommend switching to Namecheap. The process of transferring a domain name includes unlocking the domain, obtaining a special registration (if any), obtaining a verification code, and submitting a request to Namecheap.
Connecting Your Namecheap Domain
The domain transfer process is automatic and requires no intervention from the old or new registrar if anything goes as planned. I transferred two domains from Godaddy to Namecheap in less than 20 minutes, although the process can take up to 7 days to complete.
This tutorial is based on transferring a domain from GoDaddy to Namecheap, but the process is the same, so it should work for other registrars. A domain name, the hosting provider where it is hosted, and the actual content of your website.
