My Gmail SMTP server is having problems. I have read many posts here about this topic.
Although the error I received is very well explained I couldn’t find the answer: Google SMTP says “Log in with your web browser and try again”. I’m pretty sure that the password and email (both base64) are properly encoded.
Only one difference I can notice: [email protected] and password are sent in two steps. The guy in the link above posts both at the same time. Google didn’t agree. But the fact is, I write auth login Y29udGF0… (user in base64, googles answers: ) 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6 (which means “password:”) YzQ2MjJmNWVi…. (paste my password in base64 and press “enter”)

How To Configure Gmail Smtp Settings
I know this is an old problem, but I recently had the same problem and was having trouble solving it even after trying to fix the DisplayUnlockCaptcha. That’s how I came alive.
Go to account security settings (https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps) and enable “Access for less secure apps”, this allows you to use Google smtp for clients other than official apps.
Google has been kind enough to list all possible issues and solutions for us I recommend trying a less secure app setting. Make sure you apply them to the correct account.
If you have activated 2-step verification for your account, you may need to enter an app password instead of your regular password. Sign in to your account from the web version of Gmail at https://mail.google.com Once you’re signed in, try signing in to the Mail app again. Go to http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and sign in with your Gmail username and password. If asked, write the letters on the distorted picture. Your app may not support the latest security standards. Try changing some settings to allow less secure apps to access your account. Make sure your mail app is not set to check for new emails too often. If your Mail app checks for new messages more than once every 10 minutes, the app’s access to your account may be blocked.
