WSUS is a server role included in the Windows Server 2012 R2 OS that downloads and distributes updates to Windows clients and servers.

So for this WSUS demo I will use my domain server which is DC01.comsys.local and my client which is Surface01.comsys.local.
Before we begin, please understand that all implementation and configuration of this WSUS is done on Hyper-V, and all my small infra is fully virtualized, and since this WSUS is connected to an Internet connection, please also mention that you need an internet connection. attach to the VM.
Please make sure you are in the domain of the server @ Any server you want to install WSUS must have an internet connection to make it easy for you to run the WSUS process, so please connect a second network adapter to the WSUS server.
So, once you confirm that your WSUS server has Internet connectivity, you can continue with the WSUS installation process.

Configure Wsus To Deploy Updates Using Group Policy

The process is very simple, but very effective for a large and even small network. To understand what I’m talking about, think about a network of 300 personal computers, maybe this network is already in your company; You have deployed a WSUS server, but clients still go to Microsoft for updates, and you want to direct them to your WSUS server. Of course, it’s an ugly job to do this manually for 300 clients, but that’s where Group Policy comes into play. You need to do some configuration settings in WSUS, create a new GPO (Group Policy Object), configure this GPO and attach it to an OU (Organizational Unit) in AD. Here we need to create two GPOs, one for Windows XP computers and one for Windows 7 computers. Right-click the OU where your Windows XP computers are located and select Create Group Policy on this domain and link it here.
Expand Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update. As you can see, we have a lot of options here for configuring Windows updates, but I’m only going to configure a few of them, I’ll leave the rest for you.
Open Configure automatic updates, select Enable, and under Options select how updates will be installed on clients.
Open Install Microsoft Intranet Update Service, select Enable, and in Options, enter the address of your WSUS server in the form.
