Server Settings For Live Mail – This article will show you how to set up the newer version of the Windows Live Mail email client running on Windows 8. At this point, it will not show you how to install the process.
Once you’ve installed Windows Live Mail, you should see a window asking you to add your email account when you open it. It will ask for your email address, password (password for your email address) and display name for your sent messages. In this case, your displayed name will be your first and last name. Don’t forget to check the little box under the password field titled “Remember this password”. Once you have entered the correct information, press Next.

Now a window will appear asking you to configure the server settings. Make sure your server type is set to POP (if you want it set to IMAP, skip down to the next image instead) and your incoming mail server is pop. with the port set to 110. On the right side for your outgoing server information (this is the server you use to send emails) put the server address of smtp. with the port number set to 587. In the lower left corner you will see “Login username”. Enter your email address in that field. When you’re done, tap next.

If you want to use IMAP instead of POP, you will have the following settings. Server type must be set to IMAP. The server address is imap. with the port number set to 143. The server for outgoing mail is smtp. and it uses port number 587. In the lower left corner you will see “Log in username”. Enter your email address in that field. When you’re done, tap next.
After clicking next, you should see a window like the one below. Congratulations! You have added your email account to Windows Live Mail. Just press finish and you’re done.
Let’s say you have two email addresses and you want to add both, but the next time you open Windows Live Mail, it doesn’t show up with the screen to walk you through the steps to add your second email account. How will it be added? Go up to the top left corner, click on the file and then down to options > email accounts.
