With an ESMTP Gmail server, you’ll be able to send your Gmail email using another email client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird. But more importantly, you can also use the Gmail ESMTP server to send messages from your WordPress site. Book!

Use Gmail Smtp Server As Jquery Form Mailer

This is a really great way to make your WordPress website address more reliable without spending money on a dedicated email delivery service. Gmail allows you to send up to 500 emails per day, which is more than enough for most WordPress sites.

There are also other common (but not so common) Gmail ESMTP settings you may be trying to find. Here is how to answer them if you run into them;

As we explained above, the default server address is smtp.gmail.com. You can sign up with your full Gmail email address and Google account password.

Send Email Programmatically With Gmail, Python, And Flask

That’s right! You can. If you use other email clients, such as Thunderbird or Outlook, you can use the Gmail ESMTP server details to still send emails through your Gmail account.

But remember that ESMTP is only for sending email. If you also want to receive your Gmail account in another client, you need to use POP3 or IMAP. You can find these settings by opening your Gmail settings and going to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

They have too! WordPress sends a lot of basic transactional messages for things like password resets, notifications, and more. and you can send all of that using the Gmail SMTP server.

With just one free Gmail account, you’ll be able to send up to 500 emails per day, which is significantly higher than what other free ESMTP servers can do.

How To Set Up Your Smtp Server

If you have a paid Google Workspace account (formerly G Suite), Google will raise your limit even further and allow you to send up to 2,000 emails per day. You can also send messages from your own custom domain name instead of your Gmail address. That is, you can send from [email protected]. To do this, you also need to enter a Google Workspace MX record to connect your Google Workspace account to a custom domain.

Note: Technically, the mission mode is not “per day”. But the limits of application are “alternate 24 hours”. For example, you can’t send D emails at 11:59 a.m. on Monday. and then another 500 at 12:01 p.m.

That’s right! You can use the SMTP server even if you have two-factor authentication on your Google account very easily. However, you need to be able to create an app password to connect to the app as well.

However, if you want to use the Gmail SMTP server to send emails to your WordPress site, we recommend against this method. Instead, you should use the Gmail API method as shown below. This allows you to send emails using the Gmail API instead of entering SMTP server details, which also has the benefit of avoiding problems with double authentication.

Now learn how you can use the Gmail ESMTP server to send transactional emails to your WordPress site for free. This method works great and will improve the reliability of emails on your site compared to using the default PHP email method.

To install this, you need to create a Google app that can connect to the Gmail ESMTP server via the API instead of just using the individual SMTP settings. For in this there are certain degrees of good. This should only be a one-time process. That is, after 30-60 minutes of working with this setup, your site will continue to benefit on autopilot.

In addition to creating Google apps, you also need the help of the Word Press SMTP plugin. We’ll be happy with the Post SMTP Mailer/Email Blog plugin, but the free WP Mail SMTP plugin is also another good option that supports the Gmail API.

Note – this guide focuses on using a free Gmail account. But you can follow the same process to configure the website to send your account through your Google Workspace (G Suite) account.

Create A Send Only Smtp Server On Macos Using Gmail

To get started, you need to install and download the free Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log plugin from WordPress.org. This is what allows you to configure your WordPress site to send emails through the Gmail API/SMTP server.

After activating the plugin, go to the Post SMTP tab in the WordPress dashboard and click the Show All Settings link below the big Start Wizard button.

Then go to the messages tab and put in your name and “about” email address. You can use your Gmail “from” email address, or another email address if you prefer.

Next, go back to the tab menu, and select Gmail API in the Type drop-down menu. Once you have made this selection, you will see some additional options in the Validation box below. Keep this page open as you need JavaScript authorization and authorization redirect URI details for the next step:

Now you need to create a Google app. This is what allows your WordPress site to securely send emails through the Gmail API. Again, this is the most complicated part of the process. Most of all, you just click a lot of buttons and we will give you all the steps/steps you need to do.

To get started, open a new tab and copy this URL to access the Google Developer Console. There you need to create a new project. If this is your first sign in to the Developer Console, Google will prompt you to create a project first. Or if you already have several projects, you can create a new one by clicking the drop-down list in the top left corner (marked with [1] in the screenshot below).

You should now be in the Gmail API interface. Click to generate the document itself;

Now, Google will suggest that you need to set up a consent screen. This is the same type of authorization screen you see when using Google to sign up/sign in on a website.

Configure Smtp For Outbound Emails

You need to do this to satisfy Google’s requirements, but you don’t need to worry about the information you enter as you will only be using this information for your own WordPress site.

This will open a new tab where you can configure the OAuth consent screen (leave the initial browser tab as you will need to return to it in a moment). Under User Type, select External. Then click create:

On the next screen, enter the basic elements for your website. Again – you should not worry about what you put here, as you are the only one who will see this information.

Now go back to the menu containing the Add Credentials to Your Project interface and enter the following:

Google Smtp · Github Topics · Github

After you’ve added everything, click Update. Update button then change to generate OAuth Client ID – click to complete the process then click done.

After clicking Done, you’ll see a section for OAuth 2.0 Client IDs in the Documents tab (which will open immediately once you’ve clicked Done).

To complete the setup, go back to the Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log settings in the WordPress dashboard and paste the client ID and client secret from the previous step. Then make sure to save your changes;

Clicking the link will open the usual Google authorization process (again, just like when you sign up for a site with a Google-in sign-in). But when the app is not subject to Google’s review, Google will show you a warning “This app has not been verified”.

Since this is your concern, you can safely ignore the warning. Click on the option to show advanced settings, then click on the Go to “yourwebsite.com” link (not secure) to continue the authorization process:

You will now go through the usual process. Make sure to select the option Allow WordPress access to your Gmail account. It needs these permissions to send emails through the Gmail SMTP server.

To make sure everything is working, Post SMTP Mailer / Email Address includes an option to send test emails. You can access this from the main settings page:
