Here are the details you’ll need to configure your email client or WordPress site to use Outlook’s SMTP server:

While Outlook’s SMTP server allows you to send email through your Outlook account, POP3 and IMAP allow you to import emails sent to you by other people. We’ll cover IMAP in the next section.
How Can I Update My Email Settings In Outlook?
If you want to use an email client, it’s also important to add POP3 or IMAP credentials to your email client to receive emails from Outlook. In general, IMAP is better than POP3 if you want to access email from multiple devices (eg computer and mobile phone) because it allows two-way synchronization. However, POP3 may be a better choice if you only use one device.
You should note that Outlook disables POP3 by default. To enable this, click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Outlook interface and search for “pop”. Then click the result for POP and IMAP (or you can click this link to go directly there).
In the POP options area, select Yes under Allow devices and applications to use POP. You can then choose to allow apps and devices to delete emails from Outlook or keep them permanently.
As we mentioned above, IMAP is usually a better choice if you want to access email from multiple devices. Outlook allows IMAP access by default, so you just have to use these settings:

Let’s say you want to improve the reliability of the emails sent from your WordPress site. In that case, you can also configure your WordPress site to send emails via an Outlook SMTP server to take advantage of the generous sending limits (
). However, if you run into any problems, there are also many other free SMTP servers to choose from, including the free Gmail SMTP server.
To configure WordPress to use the SMTP service, you need the WordPress SMTP plugin. There are a number of popular options, but we recommend the Post SMTP plugin because it’s 100% free and includes features to debug any issues you might have with your website’s emails.
To get started, install and activate a free WordPress.org plugin. Then go to the new Post SMTP area in the WordPress dashboard and click Show All Settings:

Then go to the Message tab and enter your email address and “From” name. The email address should be your Outlook account email, while the name can be whatever you want your recipients to see:

The advantage for WordPress users is that it improves the reliability of your website’s emails, because you can use Outlook’s optimized SMTP servers. Additionally, the daily sending limit of 300 emails should be more than enough for most WordPress sites.
