Have you considered uninstalling all SQL Server software and Visual Studio (especially VS2010)? If you have database files, you may want to leave them in place (but I’d prefer to make copies elsewhere as well).

1. Start Setup for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and we will select System Configuration Checker.

3. The configuration check was run against the server and all tests passed. We have a healthy server to start configuring our SQL cluster. Click OK.

4. Click Install on the right. We will click on New SQL Server Failover Cluster Setup.

6. Enter the SQL Server product key or you can specify the free version and run the evaluation version. Click Next.

17. I have created a Windows Active Directory sqlservice account that I will use for SQL Server Agent and SQL Server Database Engine services. My sqlservice account is a domain user and belongs to the local SQL Server Administrators group. Click Next.

18. Click on the Collections tab. Latin 1_General_CI_AS is the default. Click on Custom if you need to change it. Click Next.

20. Under Specify SQL Server Administrators, click Add and select a user with admin access to the SQL Management Console. In this tutorial I will simply add a Windows Domain Administrator account.

21. Click on Data Directory. I’m going to change the directories to the shared drive we got in step 14. I: is the SQL install volume and V: is the mount volume of the root directory. Inside V: I have created 2 mount points, Mount 1 and Mount 2. Mount1 will be used for the user database directory and Mount2 will be used for the user database log directory. Click Next.

22. Select this option if you want to send error reports to Microsoft or simply click Next.

23. Run Cluster Rules to check for any cluster installation errors as we proceed. Click Next.

26. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Select Server Cluster Name, Windows Authentication and click Connect. You will connect to the SQL Server cluster resource.

27. If we open Cluster Failover Manager, we can see that the shared disk drives are all online, along with the SQL Cluster resource.
