Your domain records may be green or red, depending on what Squarespace sees from your domain provider.
Note: Do not delete MX records during this process. MX Records associates your email address. Deleting them may affect your email service. Step 4 – Add the first CNAME record
Copy the unique code that appears just below the Settings, Host column. The unique code is a random string of numbers and letters that should point to allow.squarespace.com.
Notes: If you notice a duplicate domain name in the Alias or Host section (such as uniquecode.example.com.example.com), add a period to the end of the value of the Host record (www.example.com.) . The dot prevents your service provider from appending anything else to the end of the host name. If you’re having trouble verifying your domain with a CNAME record, or if your domain provider doesn’t support CNAME records, verify your domain with a TXT record. If you do not include this CNAME or it is entered incorrectly, the link between the domain name and your site will be terminated after 15 days. In this case, you can start over to reconnect the domain. Step 5 – Add another CNAME record

Note: Depending on your service provider, you may already have a CNAME set up with the alias www. If so, edit this existing CNAME to Point to ext-cust.squarespace.com. (For most providers, add this without the trailing “.”) Note: If you have trouble adding this record, or your domain provider doesn’t support CNAME records, add an A record instead with the following details: Alias or Host Name : www points to or details: 198,185 .159,144 Then add only three remaining A records in step 6. Step 6 – Add A records
Note: Depending on your service provider, you may already have some A records. If so, edit the existing A records with Hostname @ so that the destination points match the values above. If you see other A records in your account that do not match what is shown in this guide: Host: @ – Delete only if they do not match what is shown in this guide. Host: empty – Delete. “Blank” means your domain name without www at the beginning. Host: Mail or Email – Do not delete. This is associated with your email address. Deleting it may affect your email service. Step 7 – Refresh
The Current Data column on the board starts to update and shows if your records have been entered correctly. Processing of this data may take up to 72 hours.
If all records are entered correctly, your domain name will be associated with your website within 24 hours. Sometimes it can take up to 72 hours. Visit the Domains panel at any time to check your progress.
