It will take some time for Google to verify your website. But in the meantime, you can start setting up ad units.
I prefer to set up ad units. For simplicity, I created one ad unit for sidebars and one ad unit to use in the body.

You will see that the code has been generated for you. We’ll come back to that in a moment when I show you how to place ads across the site. For now, click Done. The code is now saved as an existing ad unit, so don’t worry about saving it or anything.
I recommend waiting until you are approved to do this. Otherwise, the “ad” on your website will appear as empty space, which will not create a good user experience.
AdSense to start showing ads, THEN it’s time to start placing ads all over the site. Here’s how!
I’ll use blog posts as an example because that’s where I use ads. But you can use the same protocol to place ads anywhere. The same principle applies.

In a nutshell: You’ll add a block of code wherever you want to display an ad on your Squarespace site. In this code block, you will paste the code from AdSense for the specific ad unit you want to show there.
Let’s imagine I want to place an ad in the sidebar of this blog post I’m writing to you now. To do this, I first go to AdSense and copy the code for my sidebar ad unit.
(Any time you need to get the ad unit code, go to AdSense, click on Ads in the left sidebar menu, select By Ad Unit, then click on the “” next to the ad unit you want .This will provide all the code you can copy).
Once you’ve clicked to get the code next to the appropriate ad unit “”, click Copy Code Snippet to copy the entire code.

Now go to your Squarespace website and log in if you haven’t already. Go to the specific place where you want to show this ad (in this example: blog post sidebar) and add a block of code.
Note: You will not see an ad. You will see “Script disabled”. But rest assured, the ad is there. This will appear when you browse your website online, but sometimes you may need to refresh the page to see it.
Exactly! Whenever you want to place an ad on your website, select the ad unit you want to display, copy the code and paste it into your Squarespace website using the code block.
Eventually, you may see the error popup in your AdSense account. It can be days, weeks or months after you’re running ads smoothly on your Squarespace website without any issues.

You will then login to your AdSense account and you will see a big error at the top that says the following.
From there, you start googling like crazy to try and find the answer. The best resource I found, and the one I used to help solve this problem for my sites, was this article by Graesen Arnoff.
Rather than repeat his instructions here, I suggest you go to his website and study the article for yourself, as he states it very clearly.
Basically, you upload the ads.txt file (provided by AdSense when/if this error occurs) to your Squarespace site as a (custom CSS) file, then copy and paste the URL of the file. in the appropriate places, then set the redirect. It’s a bunch of goblygook, but you can do it!

However, I want to note that after I followed Graesen’s steps and fixed the error in AdSense, it came back, but nothing had changed on my site. I kept seeing the same income so I ignored it. Then one day the problem disappeared completely and I haven’t seen it since. So it’s a fickle and erratic bug, mind you.
Use Graesen’s great article for guidance if you encounter this problem: Resolving Google AdSense: Your Earnings May Be at Risk SquareSpace Error.
Ok everyone, I hope you found this article useful! Hopefully you can get AdSense set up and start putting value on your Squarespace site as soon as possible. Remember, once you reach 20,000 page views per month, look for better ad networks like AdThrive and Mediavine (which cost almost double).
And to generate any kind of significant advertising revenue, you need traffic. To get more traffic, your website needs a legitimate SEO strategy.

As you can see, it’s an easy-to-use, efficient third-party integration supported by most platforms, Squarespace being one of them.
First, it’s important to read Squarespace’s Terms of Service and Usage Policy to see if your site’s content complies with Squarespace’s terms. Note that you can only link to AdSense if you subscribe to the “Commerce” or “Business” plan. The same goes for other additional services.

Note that Squarespace is a platform that does not allow you to add AdSense through built-in functionality.
The first thing I would like to point out is that Google AdSense requires an ads.txt file. This file is stored on the company’s web resources and contains information about other companies that have the right to sell their products and services. This file is a way to authenticate sellers and protect customers from fraud.
To get it, go to your AdSense account and select the option “generate ads.txt file for …”. Then select the desired Squarespace site from the dropdown menu. Then download this file and add it to the root level of your web resource (it’s behind the top level domain). Only then can ads work properly.
The problem is that Squarespace doesn’t support the file transport protocol, so you can’t control where that file will be saved. It can be uploaded anywhere.
