The first thing you need to know is that Gmail doesn’t have folders like Outlook. Instead, they have something called labels. The problem with labels is that they don’t work like folders and can be a bit difficult for some people to use.

So, instead of labels, we’ll use the Mailflow extension to create folders in Gmail. Mailflow is a tool we created specifically for people who need to organize their emails.

You can think of Mailflow as Gmail folders on steroids. With Mailflow, you can’t just drop emails into a folder. You can also collect all related tasks, events, and reminders in one place, and it’s faster to use than Gmail’s built-in tagging system.
Step 1: Go to the Mailflow section of the Chrome Web Store and click the Add to Chrome button. It adds Mailflow to your Gmail, extending its functionality with useful things like folders.
Step 2: Go to your Gmail account and click Activate mail flow. Select an account that matches your account email address.
Step 3: Click through registration or click Skip if stuck. You can access it later by clicking the Mailflow logo at the top of your Gmail.

Step 2: You may notice that this folder looks different from the standard email view. That’s because we also collect tasks or reminders you’ve added to your email in one view.
Mailflow only gives you two folder hierarchies. Active and archived. This is because most of the things people add to folders are usually part of a project. When the project is finished, we recommend archiving it. That way, you won’t get in the way while you’re working, but you’ll have access to everything inside.
You can click on the arrow next to the project name in the left menu and then on Archive. You can archive the project by clicking on the black border around the white circular arrow. It means “click here to return to the top of the page”.

Folders are essential for organizing your email inbox. Gmail uses labels in addition to folders, but it’s the same thing, and you’ll often hear the terms used interchangeably. However, unlike folders, you can apply multiple labels to an email in Gmail.
