A step down from our Editors’ Choice color laser AIO, Brother’s MFC-L3770CDW, the MFC-L3750CDW prints well at respectable speeds, and the ongoing cost per page (CPP) is, for a lower color laser, competitive. Brother rates the MFC-L3750CDW at 25 pages per minute (ppm), which is fast enough for an entry-level color AIO. For example, Canon rates the MF644Cdw at just 22ppm, while the mid-range MFC741Cdw is rated at 28ppm. Epson rates its WF-C5790 at 24ppm, and Lexmark says its mid-range MC2535adwe can print up to 35ppm. To confirm Brother’s assessment, I tested it over Ethernet from our standard test bed PC equipped with an Intel Core i5 running Windows 10 Pro.
The MFC-L3750CDW printed our partial 12-page Microsoft Word monochrome text document at 25.6ppm, slightly faster than advertised. That’s 1.2ppm slower than the MFC-L3770CDW and among the Canons—2.4ppm faster than the MF644Cdw and 1.9ppm slower than the MF741Cdw. It’s also 1.2ppm faster than the Epson WF-C5790 and 14.2ppm behind the Lexmark MC2535adwe.
Next, I combined the Word results with the results from printing some complex and colorful Adobe PDF and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint documents consisting of business graphics, multi-colored fonts in various sizes and pictures. Throughout our full set of test documents, the Brother MFC-L3750CDW clocked in at 9.9ppm. Canon’s MF644Cdw got 16.3ppm and the MF741Cdw 18.7ppm; Epson and Lexmark are close at 17.7ppm and 16.9ppm, respectively.

Ultimately, I noted the MFC-L3750CDW because it printed our two 4-by-6-inch test snapshots that were very colorful and detailed. Here, an average of 20 seconds each, which is about what we’d expect from a color laser-class machine.
These days, most laser printers come close to typewriter-quality text, and the MFC-L3750CDW is no exception. The text documents you print should be more than suitable for most business purposes. Where some laser AIOs don’t shine, however, is in printing clean-looking graphics and business photos. Fortunately, the MFC-L3750CDW’s Excel charts and PowerPoint handouts with gradients and solid fills are nearly perfect, with smooth gradations from one color to the next and no other noticeable distribution issues. toner. Colors are accurate, bright and vibrant, and blacks and other dark fills and backgrounds print evenly.
Photos, too, print with bright, accurate colors and great detail. The downside, of course, is that laser printers can’t print borderless pages, and photos (and some other types of documents) look more complete and professional when their content flows to the edge of the paper.
Like most entry-level color laser AIOs, the Brother MFC-L3750CDW is prohibitively expensive—about 2.6 cents each for monochrome pages and 15.5 cents for color pages. That’s noticeably steep next to higher-volume color lasers like the Lexmark MC2535adwe (1.8 cents black and 11.8 cents color) and inkjet alternatives like the Epson WF-C5790 (1.7 cents monochrome, 7.7 cents color). Other entry-level color laser AIOs, however, including Brother’s MFC-L3770CDW (the same operating cost as the MFC-L3750CDW) and Canon’s MF644Cdw (3.2 cents black, 16.4 cents color), have similar or higher costs.
