With desktop email programs, you’ll be more productive and your email will always be available, even when you’re offline.
Accessing your Att.net email account from your desktop email client requires the following IMAP and SMTP settings.

The short answer is that IMAP connects to your email provider’s server and is used to receive email, while SMTP is used to send mail to other servers.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol that requires your email service provider to store all your messages and files on their servers. That way, if you’re using an email or webmail client, you’ll be able to log in to your email account and see everything you’ve received because it’s always stored on the servers.
STMP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is a protocol for sending email messages from your account to other recipients. This allows your email client to connect to your ISP’s server to send outgoing mail, especially to other servers.

If it cannot determine the settings, you can set up your email manually by entering the information provided by your service provider for server settings, such as IMAP or POP3 port and IMAP or POP3 security.

You can think of “port” as an address number. Just as an IP address identifies the location of a computer, a port identifies the application running on that computer.
There are some common port numbers. Always use the recommended settings to configure your email server in Mailbird.
If saving space on your desktop is important to you, or if you’re concerned about backing up your email messages, choose IMAP. This means that your emails will be stored on your email provider’s server.
POP3 will download your emails from the local store and delete them from the server. This will free up space on your server, but if something happens to your local storage, those emails won’t be available online. If you only want to use a local file copy, POP3 is a good option.

If your old emails are still available in your account, they will be imported automatically. The IMAP protocol synchronizes your email and files with the email server, allowing you to manage your email on any device connected to your account.
When you add your Att.net account to Mailbird, it will immediately give you access to your emails, without having to do anything else.
Note. If your emails come from your local server, they will not be able to import due to IMAP protocol.

You may need to provide IMAP and SMTP information to enable email synchronization in Pipedrive. We have already done initial synchronization with Gmail and Microsoft, so this custom login should only be used if the local way doesn’t work.

If your provider is not listed here, or if you use an email provider specific to your company, we recommend that you contact your system administrator to obtain the IMAP and SMTP information needed to synchronize your email with Pipedrive.
If you’re signed in with a Microsoft account, you can always check to update your IMAP and SMTP settings by going to Settings > View all settings > Email sync > POP & IMAP.
Note. Unfortunately, it is not possible to connect your POP3 server to Pipedrive email synchronization. Pipedrive’s email sync feature only uses IMAP or Exchange credentials to sync.

If the problem happened once, I could attribute it to communication errors somewhere along the way. But it happened to several users, and some of them saw it several times, so there must have been some other common.
Lauri Reinhardt and I received messages from several ISPs, but upon closer inspection, they were not as different as they might seem. That’s because Verizon bought AOL in 2015 and Yahoo in 2017. At some point, Verizon moved both the aol.com and verizon.net email accounts to a Yahoo Mail backend. (Yahoo and AOL were acquired by Apollo Global Management in May 2021 and are no longer part of Verizon.) At some point, Frontier Communications also partnered with Yahoo for its email, adding the main domains frontier.com and frontiernet.net . to a list of people relying on Yahoo Mail behind the scenes, as well as legacy domains such as citlink.net, ctaz.com, ctaz.net, and newnorth.net.
This was the first piece of the puzzle, but we have more than 2,100 subscribers in these domains and yahoo.com, so if that were all, we would undoubtedly get more reports on the problem. After a few conversations with people who reported the bug, I figured out the rest of the puzzle – they all used POP to download their emails from the server. Most users of Internet e-mail applications rely on the server-side IMAP protocol to access e-mail because it makes it easier to work with multiple devices, but POP is still available from many ISPs.

Interrupt the multi-line response.) Bill found that some ISPs incorrectly remove the leading period from the wrapped line, presumably to protect against inadvertent termination. So, if the line should stop to start with a period, the ISP removes the period. The problem was not reproducible because the email headers have random length, so the line wrapping point can change every time it is sent. Needless to say, removing the periods can mess up the format, as we have experienced, and Bill points out that it can be problematic in other ways, such as changing the instruction to administer 0.25ml to 25ml.
If POP was widely used and it was easy to connect to Yahoo Mail support, I would report this bug. (Here’s an example of the difficulty connecting to Yahoo support. Earlier this week, a friend’s email account was hacked, and the attacker sent me several emails trying to trick me into sending him an Amazon gift card. After In the first message, he tried to redirect our conversation to a similar Yahoo account of a friend I didn’t control. After alerting my friend about the attack via text message, I looked for a way to report the apparent violation. (This is provided by Yahoo, but I couldn’t find a proper support channel.)
